Have You Tried Making Cloud Bread With Your Air Fryer?

If you’ve spent any time scrolling through foodie content online, chances are you’ve already come across this fluffy dessert: cloud bread. Light, airy, and almost too pretty to eat, it’s one of those treats that instantly catches attention. And here’s the best part — you can whip it up easily at home with just an air fryer!

What is cloud bread, exactly?

Contrary to its name, cloud bread isn’t exactly bread; it’s actually more like a soft-baked meringue. Its texture is light and spongy, and it dissolves in your mouth like cotton candy. Some also compare it to angel food cake because of how fluffy it is!

How to make it

There are several ways to make cloud bread, but we’re following this particular recipe shared by YouTube user 한세HANSE! You can check out the instructional video below:

Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 ½ tbsp cornstarch

Steps

  1. Whisk the egg whites.

  2. Add in sugar and continue to whisk the mixture.

  3. Add cornstarch and keep whipping until stiff peaks form. (The mixture should be creamy like shaving cream.)

  4. When the meringue is completed, transfer it onto parchment paper and shape it into a circle.

  5. Place the parchment paper and meringue into your air fryer (preheated for five minutes at 140°C). Bake for 20 minutes.

  6. Enjoy it right away!

Note: You can make cloud bread by baking it in an oven, too!

To make things more fun, you also have the option to add food colouring and flavoured extracts! Should you decide to do so, add them in along with the cornstarch. As for flavourings, recommendations include vanilla extract, lemon extract, and cocoa powder. If you’d like to add finely chopped chocolate chips, you can add them in carefully once you’ve achieved stiff peaks.
