Starting September, students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) can enjoy cheaper train rides with a special Beep card that automatically applies fare discounts. No need to queue for single-journey discount tickets every time you travel. Just tap and go.
The Department of Transportation says the discount will be programmed into the card, which works on MRT-3, LRT-1, LRT-2 and even at other partner merchants. The cards are personalised, valid for two years, and meant for personal use only. Using someone else’s card can lead to confiscation and penalties.
