The only plastic we need for travel.
Rush hour in Manila just got a little less stressful. No more fumbling for coins or lining up for tickets at the MRT-3, because you can now pay for your train rides using GCash!
Yes, you read that right! Your daily commute is about to get faster and easier with cashless payments now accepted at all MRT-3 stations. Whether you’re headed from North Avenue to Taft or just hopping between stops, all you need is at least ₱28 in your GCash wallet to ride. The amount is deducted when you exit, and if your trip costs less, the change goes straight back to your wallet.
Here are three easy ways to pay with GCash:
Tap to Pay with your Android phone

Turn on NFC in your phone’s settings.
Open and log in to your GCash app.
Activate “Tap to Pay” once, then just tap your phone on the MRT turnstile when you enter and exit.
(Note: iPhone users can skip this and go straight to QR or Visa Card.)

Order via the GCash app for ₱250 and get it delivered within 7 to 10 days.
The Department of Transportation has already rolled out this feature under a soft launch. Commuters using these options can head straight to the MRT fast lane, skipping the usual queues for ticket purchases.
With this upgrade, the daily struggle of digging for change or reloading cards at the station is officially a thing of the past. Just tap, scan, or swipe and you’re good to go.
Cashless commuting at the MRT-3 is here to stay, making life easier for Filipinos who are always on the move. For Gen Z and millennials juggling work, school, and city life, this upgrade means less stress and more time saved!
