Who’s this tour guide in Taiwan who’s quickly becoming every Filipino traveller’s favourite private charter? His name is Uncle Lin, a driver-guide whose presence turns a regular sightseeing day into something unforgettable!
He’s not flashy, doesn’t do big social media campaigns, and isn’t on popular booking apps. But spend a day with him, and you’ll see why people keep talking about him. Like most of our own parents or grandparents, Uncle Lin does not have much social media presence.
We spoke with some of his clients, Fiona and Nelson, about their experiences. Both couldn’t stop raving about his warmth, thoughtfulness, and undeniably cute personality. Uncle Lin might not speak perfect English, but he makes up for it with gestures, simple words, and patient smiles that instantly make you feel at ease.
Here’s why Uncle Lin is Filipino tourists’ beloved tourist guide!
He knows the best spots to take you
Uncle Lin isn’t just about checking tourist boxes. He knows the hidden corners and perfect angles for photos, from Yehliu’s wild rock formations to Shifen’s lantern-lit streets.

Fiona shared a moment that stuck with her: “We thought we were only going to be with him until 6 PM, but he said, ‘No it’s okay, you have to see Taipei 101. We know the best view.’ He was really nice and really wanted us to enjoy and savor the trip.” His flexibility and thoughtfulness make a full-day tour feel smooth and stress-free.
He makes sure your photos are fire
Uncle Lin doubles as the group’s unofficial photographer. He doesn’t just take random snaps — he actually directs poses and angles so every photo looks amazing! He's literally the cutest!

Fiona even has a vlog clip of him giving directions for photos, showing how much he cares about capturing memories.
He genuinely cares and is safe to be around
Travellers say he treats everyone like family. He checks if you’re comfortable, goes out of his way to make the day run smoothly, and is patient when plans run long.
Fiona remembered, “He said that he’ll wait for us until 10:00 PM so we won’t miss our high-speed rail back to Kaohsiung at 11:20 PM. He was so caring and thoughtful.”
Nelson added simply, “He treat us like a family.” Whether it’s a smaller group paying around ₱7,000 or a bigger group spending roughly ₱20,000, everyone agrees: Uncle Lin is worth every peso for his care, attention, and effort.

He has a cool and fun personality
Uncle Lin is genuinely fun to be around. Fiona shared, “He really do cares for you. He actually gets Filipino humor, which made him even funnier!”
He may not speak perfect English, but his effort to communicate and connect makes every ride lively and enjoyable!
Honestly, he’s probably the cutest tour guide ever. Even though he’s mostly reachable via WhatsApp, you can also try finding him on Facebook at @toyatowish17. Just check the Pages category since his name is in Chinese characters and would probably be hard for you to search.

Touring Taiwan with Uncle Lin isn’t just about seeing landmarks. It’s about the vibes and company along the way. He keeps things smooth, fun, and memorable. For Filipino travellers, he’s more than a driver. He’s one of the best parts of the trip! Nelson summed it up perfectly: “YES OF COURSE 100%” and he would recommend Uncle Lin to anyone!
