There are many other beautiful places in the Philippines outside its capital, but these 5 destinations will let you enjoy weekend trips with great ease.

One of the best things about Hong Kong is its MTR. The trains are fast, clean, and cover almost every corner of the city. For first-time visitors and solo travellers, this is a huge win because the simplest way to enjoy Hong Kong is by sticking to attractions that are right next to the MTR. No confusing bus routes, no long walks, no stress.
As someone who’s also not that familiar with other countries’ transport systems, I know how intimidating it can be to figure out buses, trams, or ferries when you’re abroad. That’s why this list is such a good travel guide for you. You literally step off the train and boom, you’re already at the attraction. It’s easy, beginner-friendly, and takes the pressure off navigating a foreign city.
Here are five major spots you can visit just by hopping off the train.
Disneyland Hong Kong

Nearest MTR: Disneyland Resort Station
This station takes you straight to the park gates, no extra transfers needed. Hong Kong Disneyland has seven themed zones, including Toy Story Land, Tomorrowland, and Mystic Point. Ride Space Mountain, take photos with Disney characters, and watch the Lion King show. The park is huge, so it’s worth planning your day ahead. Don’t miss the fireworks and castle light show because it’s the perfect ending to your visit.
Victoria Peak

Nearest MTR: Central Station, Exit J2
From Central Station, it’s a short walk to the Peak Tram. Once you’re at the top, you’ll see the postcard skyline of Victoria Harbour and Central. Explore the Peak Tower, head to Sky Terrace, or grab a coffee while enjoying the view. The lines can get long, so booking tickets in advance will save you time.
Avenue of Stars

Nearest MTR: East Tsim Sha Tsui, Exit J
This waterfront promenade is Hong Kong’s answer to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. You’ll find Bruce Lee’s bronze statue, handprints of stars like Jackie Chan and Andy Lau, and plenty of photo spots with the harbour as a backdrop. It’s a relaxing place for a stroll, especially in the evening. Stay until 8pm to catch the free Symphony of Lights show.
Ngong Ping & Tian Tan Buddha

Nearest MTR: Tung Chung Station
Step off at Tung Chung and ride the Ngong Ping 360 cable car for stunning views of mountains and sea. Once you reach Ngong Ping Village, climb the steps to the giant Tian Tan Buddha and visit Po Lin Monastery. The atmosphere is calmer than the city centre, making it a nice change of pace. With the MTR and cable car, getting here is surprisingly easy.
Mong Kok

Nearest MTR: Mong Kok Station, Exit B2 or B3
The moment you leave the station, you’re already in one of the busiest districts in Hong Kong. Mong Kok is a shopping and street food hub, packed with sneaker stores, gadget stalls, and night markets. The neon signs light up the streets after dark, creating that iconic Hong Kong energy. It’s crowded and noisy, but that’s exactly what makes it fun.
Why this works for first-time and solo travellers
These attractions are some of the most accessible places in Hong Kong because the MTR takes you almost straight to their doorstep. For first-timers, this means less time stressing about directions and more time enjoying the city. For solo travellers, it’s a safe and convenient way to explore without worrying about complicated commutes. If you’re planning your first Hong Kong trip, these five spots should be at the top of your list.
