If you’ve ever bought a Hong Thai herbal inhaler from Thailand as a pasalubong or for personal use, here’s something you should know. One batch has been pulled out from stores after it tested positive for bacteria.
The Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found that samples of Hong Thai Herbal Inhaler Formula 2 (registration number G309/62) failed safety standards during lab tests. The inhalers were contaminated with microbes, yeasts, mould, and Clostridium bacteria, making them unsafe for use.
The problem came from Lot 000332, made on 9 December 2024 and set to expire on 8 December 2027. Around 200,000 inhalers from this batch have been taken off the market.
The Thai FDA has labelled the product substandard and warned the public to stop using it immediately.
The manufacturer, Hong Thai Panich, admitted the contamination issue and said it has already started removing the affected products. The company added that other batches are safe and not affected by the contamination.
To improve safety, Hong Thai said it will now add UV sterilisation to its production process. Customers who still have the affected inhalers can ask for a refund or a free replacement.

These herbal inhalers are super popular with Filipino travellers. They are easy to find in Thai convenience stores, airports, and even online. If you bought one during your last trip, check the label right away. If you see Lot 000332, stop using it.
It is also a good reminder to always check the Philippine FDA website before using any imported herbal or wellness product to make sure it is safe.
Filipinos who travel to Thailand or buy Hong Thai inhalers online should always check batch numbers and safety approvals. Stick to FDA-approved products to avoid health risks from contaminated items.
