Cheers to a whopping number of 20 holidays and 13 long weekends in the Philippines! Filipinos have all reasons to rejoice this 2015 as well! Feeling the vacation vibe? Plan your getaways now!

If you have ever spent a whole morning sweating in a long line at a BIR office, you know the struggle. Between the commute and the piles of paperwork, getting a physical ID usually feels like a full-day mission.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is finally fixing this. By putting the Digital TIN ID inside the eGovPH "super app," they are helping you skip the heat and the crowds of the traditional "pila."
The best part is that you no longer need to visit a BIR branch just to replace a lost card. You can now generate and view your ID from your sofa while having a coffee. This saves you from wasting a whole day of leave just to stand in a government office.
Dealing with banks or employers is also much simpler now. The digital ID uses a QR code for instant verification, so you do not need to worry about a physical signature. It is valid, official, and accepted.
This also means a much lighter wallet for you. Since the ID stays on your phone, there is one less plastic card to worry about losing or damaging. It is also safer, as the app uses facial recognition to make sure only you can access your tax data.
If you are a student or a first-time job seeker without a passport or driver’s license, this is a huge help. The Digital TIN ID is considered a valid government-issued ID. You can use it as a primary document for many of your most important transactions.
You can present this digital ID when applying for a new job, as most employers require a verified TIN for payroll. It is also accepted by many banks and financial institutions for opening savings accounts. You can even use it for SIM card registration or when dealing with other government agencies and local offices.
For those entering the workforce for the first time, this is a game-changer. Usually, you need a primary ID to get other IDs, creating a stressful cycle where you cannot get one because you do not have the other.
Since the Digital TIN ID is now easily accessible on your phone, you can use it immediately to complete your pre-employment requirements. It serves as your official proof of identity when signing contracts or visiting government offices to process other benefits like SSS or PhilHealth.

To get started, you must already have a record in the BIR Online Registration and Update System (ORUS). Once that is ready, follow these steps on your phone:
Download the eGovPH app from the Play Store or App Store.
Register and complete the facial recognition scan to verify your identity.
Log in with your mobile number, the OTP, and your six-digit MPIN.
Tap the "Digital ID" icon at the bottom and select the BIR digital TIN ID.
Make sure the details on your eGovPH profile match your tax records exactly. If there is a typo in your name or birthday, the app will not be able to find your ID.
Since this is a digital-first system, that QR code on your screen is your proof of authenticity. You can use it as a primary ID for job applications or opening bank accounts without needing the old plastic version.
Having BIR digital TIN ID on the eGovPH app is a massive time-saver for Filipinos tired of the old waiting game. It makes handling requirements for work or banking much faster and less stressful. By going digital, you can finally stop worrying about long lines and focus on your actual job.
