Mexico and the Philippines share a lot of cultural similarities, making travel between the two countries relatively easy and enjoyable. For Filipino travellers, there’s an even more exciting perk: it’s possible to visit Mexico without a Mexican visa in certain cases. Here’s everything you need to know in 2025.
For well-travelled Filipinos, this might already be known, but if you haven’t heard, here’s the lowdown: certain Filipinos can enter Mexico without applying for a Mexican visa, provided they meet specific criteria.

The simplest option requires a valid visa or proof of residence in one of these countries: Canada, Japan, Schengen countries, the United Kingdom, or the United States. This applies to all Philippine passport holders travelling to Mexico for tourism, business, or transit, whether by air, sea, or land.
To enter Mexico visa-free, make sure your passport contains a valid visa stamp or residence permit for one of the countries above. You can then stay in Mexico for up to 180 days without a Mexican visa. Among these options, Japan typically has the fastest and most accessible visa process. Make sure your Japan visa allows multiple entries to use this option effectively.

If you don’t have any of the above visas, another way to enter Mexico without a Mexican visa is by cruise ship. This allows temporary entry into Mexico, but note that direct cruise options from the Philippines or Asia are very limited, so you might need to board a cruise overseas.
If neither of the visa-free options works for you, you’ll need to apply for a Mexican visa for Filipinos. Compared to other tourist visas, the Mexican visa requires a number of specific documents: (UPDATED)
Duly accomplished Mexico visa application form
Original and photocopy of passport valid for at least six months
Two 1.5 x 1.5 ID photos with white background
One valid government-issued identification card
One valid international credit card
Updated bank books or passbooks
Bank certificate addressed to the Mexican Embassy in Manila
Bank statements for the last three months
Paid credit card statements for the last three months
Income Tax Return (for employed) or business owner certificates (for self-employed)
Marriage certificate (if applicable)
Employment certificate
Consular interview
You must provide both original and photocopied documents for your financial proof (items 5–10). If applying with children, include their birth certificates.

Once your documents are ready, register and book an appointment via the Mexitel website or call their hotline. On your appointment date, bring all documents to the Mexican Embassy in Manila, located at 50 Legaspi Street, G.C. Corporate Plaza, Legazpi Village, Makati City. Pay the visa processing fee (around ₱1,800) and wait for the results.
