Ortigas Foundation Library makes timeless books available

With over 23,000 sources in their collection, it’s safe to say that the Ortigas Foundation Library amassed invaluable information. The collection ranges from books and serials to images and documents, some of which date back to the 17th century. Their entire catalogue is safely preserved between the library’s two sections: the Main Collection Room and the Rare Book Room. Most of their books provide focus towards Philippine history but don’t be surprised to find rare publications from other countries as well.

Their books are so rare that some of the oldest published works they possess have animal skins for covers. It doesn’t get more authentic than that! Interested readers can flip through these tomes’ pages, very carefully, inside the library.

The (free) shopping mall library

Not only is Ortigas Foundation Library free for anyone, but it’s also very accessible. Tucked inside Greenhills Shopping Center, just above Unimart, are multiple public transport routes to the library. Visit them after a shopping run; the silence can be very relaxing after some hectic bargaining!

While they operate for free, the library does encourage visitors to buy any of their wares in their in-house shop. Profits from their sales go directly to their maintenance costs. The same goes for monetary donations. Finally, while they also welcome book donations, emailing the library first is a good idea.
