Our favourite places to stay on this sleepy Cebu island.
If you have ever gone on a long road trip, you know the feeling. You are halfway to your destination and you just need a proper break. A clean toilet, a comfortable seat, maybe even a place to grab some travel tips for your next stop. Pangasinan is about to make those moments a lot better.
At the scenic Capitol beachfront in Lingayen, a brand new Tourist Rest Area is almost ready to open. This is not the usual quick stop along the road. It is a modern and well designed space created with travellers in mind.

This rest area has everything to make your journey more enjoyable.
Clean and well maintained restrooms that take the stress out of finding a decent toilet
A cosy lounge where you can relax before continuing your trip
Charging stations to keep your phone and camera ready for all your photos and videos
A lactation room for travelling mums who need comfort and privacy
A tourist information desk where you can get maps, guides, and tips for exploring Pangasinan
It has been designed for both local and international visitors so everyone can travel with ease.
This project is the result of a collaboration between the Department of Tourism, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, and the Pangasinan provincial government. It is part of a wider plan by the Department of Tourism to create more Tourist Rest Areas across the country. The goal is to make travel more comfortable, boost tourism, and strengthen the Philippines’ position as a tourism powerhouse in Asia.
For Pangasinan, this facility is more than just a convenience for travellers. It can encourage visitors to stay longer, discover more places, and support local livelihoods from food vendors to transport operators.

The plan officially began in February 2025 when Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, TIEZA Chief Operating Officer Gregory Oller, and Governor Ramon Guico III signed a Memorandum of Agreement. The project is funded by TIEZA, managed under the Department of Tourism, and will eventually be handed over to the provincial government.

Governor Guico believes this new facility will help position Pangasinan as one of the top travel destinations in Northern Luzon. It also forms part of the ongoing redevelopment of the Capitol Complex which will make the area even more attractive to tourists in the future.
So the next time you travel to Pangasinan, whether it is for the golden sands of Lingayen Beach or the famous Hundred Islands, make sure to visit the new Tourist Rest Area. Sometimes the little things like a clean toilet, a comfortable seat, and a warm welcome can make your journey truly unforgettable.
