Walking to work in Barangay Pinagbuhatan has become a bit of a nightmare lately. Instead of a clear path to the jeepney stop, people living on Urbano Velasco Avenue have to step right into the road with moving cars. This is not just annoying; it is actually dangerous for anyone trying to get around during the morning rush hour.
The problem is a mix of mess and building. Big piles of uncollected rubbish are taking up the space where people should be walking. On top of that, neighbors say a small building was put up illegally right at the end of the road. Because these things are blocking the way, walkers have no choice but to share the road with heavy traffic.
Many locals feel this is a sign that city rules are being ignored. Because of this, they are calling on Mayor Vico Sotto and the local government to do something. They want the trash cleared and the illegal buildings pulled down so the community can walk safely again.
While this street is a mess, the city is trying to fix safety in other spots. Officials have started a project to fix and toughen up the bollards—those yellow posts—along pedestrian lanes across Pasig. This started because many people complained that the old ones were too weak and kept breaking.
City workers are already out checking these posts. They are looking for weak spots and fixing them right away to make sure the barriers actually keep cars away from people. To stop them from breaking again, the local government promised to check on them regularly.
If you live or work in Pasig, these updates matter for your safety and your daily walk. Keeping the paths clear and the barriers strong helps everyone get home without getting hurt. You can stay updated on road clearing by checking with your local barangay office.
