Good News to our fellow Filipinos! The Department of Tourism (DOT) just shared the data of tourism statistics for January to April 2018, and we couldn’t be happier! The Philippine tourist arrivals increased by a whopping 12.35%!
Image credit: Official Facebook Page of Department of Tourism- PhilippinesIn 2017, the tourism statistics only tallied 2,349,980 foreign visitors in the country. This year, we welcomed 2,640,231 during the first four months of 2018! How awesome is that?
The Philippine tourism has already hit an all-time high in January this year. Chinese and Korean tourists are our top markets. Although there have been flight cancellations following the closure of Boracay Island, international arrivals are still going strong.

This May, we also welcomed our new Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo- Puyat. She has already shared her plans and clarified that the Philippines won’t be hosting the Miss Universe Pageant for now. Instead, the team will be focusing on exploring other opportunities like Culinary and AgriTourism to promote Philippine Tourism.
