Cheers to a whopping number of 20 holidays and 13 long weekends in the Philippines! Filipinos have all reasons to rejoice this 2015 as well! Feeling the vacation vibe? Plan your getaways now!
Good news for motorists this holiday season: several major expressways in the Philippines will waive toll fees during specific hours on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. This initiative, announced by Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) and San Miguel Corporation (SMC), aims to make holiday travel more convenient and affordable for Filipino travelers.

The following expressways under MPTC will offer toll-free access:
North Luzon Expressway (NLEX)
NLEX Connector
Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX)
Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX)
Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX)
Motorists can enjoy toll-free travel on these expressways from:
24 Dec, 10pm, to 25 Dec, 6am
31 Dec, 10pm, to 1 Jan, 6am
These waivers apply to Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles exiting during the designated hours, providing significant savings and easing holiday traffic.
In addition to MPTC’s efforts, SMC has announced toll-free travel for the following expressways during the same periods:
Skyway System
NAIA Expressway (NAIAX)
South Luzon Expressway (SLEX)
STAR Tollway
Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX)
The toll-free initiative from SMC also aligns with the holiday schedule, helping reduce travel costs and promote hassle-free journeys.
What It Means for Travelers
With heavy traffic typically expected during the holidays, these toll-free periods can alleviate some of the stress associated with traveling to reunite with loved ones or going on vacation. The waived fees are especially beneficial for long-distance travelers, as they can significantly lower the cost of trips across Luzon.
To make the most of these toll-free hours, travelers should plan their trips accordingly, aiming to enter and exit expressways within the designated periods. Be mindful of potential traffic congestion leading up to the start and end of the toll-free windows.
