The promise of new flavours beckons from Banawe.
Good news, book nerds from the North! SM North EDSA now has its own Book Nook, a free library where you can read, donate, or exchange books without spending a peso.
Why spend on coffee shop Wi-Fi when you can hang out with free books instead? SM North EDSA just opened its own Book Nook, a cosy, community-powered reading hub where anyone can sit down, flip through a story, and even swap books without paying a single peso.
The new Book Nook, which opened on August 14, comes with about 2,300 titles ranging from children’s lit to fiction and non-fiction. It’s the project’s third branch after SM Aura and The Podium. The best part? The collection will keep growing as the community donates and exchanges books. So, whatever you find today might not be on the shelf tomorrow.

The launch was extra special because it also marked Book Nook’s fifth anniversary and SM Supermalls’ 40th year. To celebrate, the team set a big goal: gather 40,000 donated books to share with schools nationwide, while rolling out fun programs across different malls.
What makes Book Nook stand out is its community feel. It isn’t your typical library! Each branch evolves based on what locals contribute, making every space unique. You can donate, exchange, or simply sit and enjoy a book for as long as you like. Yes, no need to buy, no pressure to leave!
And for mall-goers who see SM North as more than just a shopping stop, Book Nook adds a new kind of experience. It’s a free corner where you can rest, recharge, and let your mind travel, whether you’re between errands, killing time before a commute, or simply curious about what stories the shelves hold today.

Book Nook’s arrival in SM North is more than just the opening of another mall attraction. It is not just a free library but also a space where people can meet others with the same passion for reading, making it a hub for community building. It also serves as a new hangout spot for friend groups who are not fond of loud and noisy environments. In a busy world of screens and deadlines, finding a quiet corner where stories live freely feels like a rare gift worth holding on to.
