Delta Air Lines Eyes Nonstop Los Angeles to Manila Flights by 2027

If you’ve been daydreaming about sinking into a Delta One Suite and flying straight into Filipino paradise, you might be onto something big. Delta Air Lines is quietly planning to relaunch nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) sometime in summer 2027, and it could be one of the most talked about long haul routes of the decade.

A long haul route with a premium touch

While Delta hasn’t yet issued a formal announcement, the airline disclosed its intentions in a regulatory filing with the U.S. Department of Transportation. According to that filing, Delta is “pursuing plans to launch its own Manila service next summer (2027) with daily Airbus A350-900 service from Los Angeles (LAX)”.

That aircraft choice is notable. The Airbus A350-900 is one of Delta’s most modern long haul jets, often configured with Delta One Suites, Premium Select, and economy class cabins. If this route moves forward, it promises not only one of the longest nonstop flights in Delta’s network but also a premium travel experience for travellers heading to the Philippines.

Why this matters

This planned LAX–Manila route could mark Delta’s first direct nonstop service between the U.S. mainland and the Philippines in years. The airline previously served Manila via connections in Asia before suspending service during the pandemic, so this feels like a major comeback.

The move also comes amidst growing competition on transpacific routes. United Airlines already operates nonstop flights between the U.S. and Manila, while Philippine Airlines remains a key player on these long haul sectors. Delta’s entry could give travellers flying from the U.S. West Coast more choice and potentially better premium options.

Worth the wait?

For now, this Delta One Suite getaway remains unofficial. The route has not been formally announced and tickets are not on sale yet. Airline plans can change, especially for ultra long haul flights crossing the Pacific. But if the launch happens as hoped in summer 2027, it could be a game changer for travellers flying between Los Angeles and Manila.
