If you’ve been staying tuned to hit K-drama Nevertheless, then chances are you’re curious about Lee Ho-jung, who plays Yoon Sol. As someone who follows the series myself, I initially thought I held an unpopular opinion: that Yoon Sol is the only character I actually care for. However, it turns out that Ho-jung’s character is in fact quite the crowd favourite; and fans are far more invested in her love story with her BFF Seo Ji-wan. Team #SolJiwan all the way!
Besides being one of the series’ most loveable characters, Yoon Sol from Nevertheless has also gotten lots of attention for her uber-stylish outfits. From her oversized statement tees and trademark bandana to her motorcycle jackets and wide-legged jeans, her style is effortlessly cool — and the Internet is living for it. After doing our research, we’ve found that there’s more to know and love about Lee Ho-jung; so much that we’re certain she’s the next K-drama star to keep an eye on from here on out!
Interesting things to know about actress Lee Ho-jung
1. She styled her own character on Nevertheless
Since we’ve already touched on the topic of Yoon Sol’s fashion, we thought it only appropriate to start with this. It turns out that we can owe the character’s effortless yet chic style to the actress herself!
Lee Ho-jung played a large hand in styling Sol; and it was revealed that several clothing items and accessories actually came from her own closet. Just a quick browse through her Instagram account, and you’ll instantly be able to tell that the character’s fashion reflects her very own. For starters, Sol’s trademark bandana is actually Ho-jung’s — and so is the leather jacket many of us have been coveting.
2. She was born in 1997
Her birthday is on 20 Jan 1997; so, in Korean age, Lee Ho-jung is already 25 years old. That makes her the same age as Korean stars like Cha Eun Woo, BTS’ Jungkook, and Blackpink’s Rosé and Lisa!
3. Ho-jung started modelling at the age of 16
Prior to her acting career, Ho-jung debuted as a model under YG K Plus in 2012. Since then, the 5’6 beauty has walked a number of runways; appeared on the pages of magazines such as Vogue Korea, Elle Korea, and Harper’s Bazaar Korea; and even graced the cover of L’Officiel Singapore. Most recently, she’s partnered with luxury watch and jewellery brand Chopard; she also models for designer fashion label Jaybaek Couture.
4. She made her acting debut in 2016
A few years after debuting as a model, Lee Ho-jung played a role in her first drama, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, alongside IU. She also notably appeared in the 2017 film Midnight Runners, with Park Seo-joon. Apart from dramas and movies, the actress also appeared in a number of music videos — among them Big Bang’s Let’s Not Fall in Love and K.Will’s You Don’t Know Love.
5. Ho-jung also goes by the name Holly
We’re guessing it’s a mix of the first syllable of her first name, Ho-jung and her family name, Lee! Based on her social media handles and her old VLive vlogs titled “HollyMoly,” it seems like this is a nickname she truly identifies herself with.
6. She has an Instagram account dedicated to her film photos
If you just look through Ho-jung’s Instagram page, it’s not hard to see that she has an eye for photography. But did you know that she actually has a whole other account solely dedicated to her film shots? The Instagram account, called @hollys_film, dates back to December 2015.
7. She’s a loving furparent to her dog, Oscar
While we’re talking about the Instagram accounts Ho-jung handles… She also runs another one for her adorable Border Collie, Oscar. Based on their photos alone, it’s absolutely clear how much she dotes on him! Don’t they make the cutest duo?
8. She has her own YouTube channel, Hollyday
A play on the word “holiday,” Hollyday is a treasure trove for fans interested in getting to know Lee Ho-jung better. Her YouTube channel is a mix of videos that detail her travels, daily life, fashion tips, and more; plus, majority of the content is shot by Ho-jung and her friends, so you’re sure to love how authentic it all is. 9. She shares fun, feel-good content on TikTok
Like many of us, Ho-jung turned to TikTok while in quarantine. While she hasn’t posted too many videos, the ones on her profile are definitely fun to watch. Nevertheless fans are in for a treat, too — at the time of writing, her latest TikTok upload is a video she shot with her co-star Yang Hye-ji, who plays Bit-na!
10. Ho-jung will appear in an upcoming film called Injil
The movie, whose English title is Hostage: Missing Celebrity, is set to premiere on 18 Aug 2021. Hwang Jung-min will play the action film’s lead role, while Ho-jung is listed to play Saet-byeol, one of the main character’s hostage-takers. You can check out the trailer here.
