There are many other beautiful places in the Philippines outside its capital, but these 5 destinations will let you enjoy weekend trips with great ease.

Commuting along EDSA can be a daily challenge, especially during rush hour when MRT‑3 trains are packed to capacity. There is good news for travellers and daily commuters in Metro Manila, as the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that 39 additional train coaches from CRRC Dalian will be deployed by 2026.
These new coaches are part of a larger 48-train procurement plan, aimed at increasing capacity, reducing crowding, and making daily trips more comfortable. This means more space for passengers, fewer delays, and a smoother travel experience whether heading to work, school, or exploring the city.

The Dalian trains were acquired several years ago, but their deployment was delayed due to technical and operational adjustments. The 39 new coaches will be gradually rolled out throughout 2026, with earlier batches already tested and in operation. These incremental improvements aim to fully maximise the use of the new trains and enhance commuting efficiency.
For everyday commuters, the deployment brings the city closer to a more reliable MRT‑3 experience. The DOTr is ensuring that all new coaches are compatible with existing signalling systems and maintenance requirements, which is crucial to prevent further delays and ensure safe operations.

Although it may take some time before the full benefits are felt, the 2026 rollout of Dalian train coaches marks a key milestone in improving Metro Manila’s public transport system. Travellers and daily commuters can look forward to a more comfortable ride and a less stressful journey across the city.
Upgrades like these are essential for a city that relies heavily on public transport, and the addition of 39 Dalian train coaches is a welcome improvement for everyone navigating the busy streets of Metro Manila.
