Visit Choi Woong’s Studio Cafe: The Real-Life Filming Location of ‘Our Beloved Summer’

If you have ever watched Our Beloved Summer, then you were probably lusting over one of three things: (a) Choi Wooshik and Kim Da-mi’s incredible chemistry, (b) the impeccable indie soundtrack, or (c) Choi Woong’s dreamy, plant-filled studio. We cannot blame you: they are all equally swoon-worthy. Today, we are zooming into the humble abode of our endearing male lead.

From wide glass windows that let the sun gently peek indoors, to hanging plants adorning the space, to brick walls serving as a backdrop to Go-Oh’s intricate drawings, Choi Woong’s artist cave definitely defined the romantic aesthetic of the show. We just wish we were Kook Yeon-soo, so we could also ask to stay over (IYKYK).

Since we’re not living in K-drama Land, the next best thing is ogling photos of Choi Woong’s studio. Alas, we’re ecstatic to announce that we’ve found more real-life photos of the filming location.

Our Beloved Summer Choi Woong’s studio in real life

Most of Woong’s studio (including that iconic garden and rooftop) is actually a real-life space in South Korea! Haenggung Party opened in 2017 near Jang-an Park in the historic city of Suwon.

The building itself is a beautiful example of how old structures can be repurposed into aesthetic modern spaces. Its rooftop provides a panoramic view of the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site that adds to the "old soul" vibe of the neighborhood.

Sadly, this cafe is still temporarily closed...

While the cafe faced a temporary closure during the height of the pandemic, it remains a major pilgrimage site for K-drama fans visiting Suwon. The surrounding Haengnidan-gil area has since exploded with even more cute cafes and boutiques, making it the perfect day trip from Seoul. Even if you are just passing by to see the exterior, you will immediately recognize the spot where many of Woong and Yeon-soo's most heart-tugging moments were filmed.

How to Get There

If you are planning your own Our Beloved Summer pilgrimage, here is the essential info:

Location: 21, Hwa-seo-mun-ro 42-beon-gil, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Pro Tip: Suwon is easily accessible from Seoul via the Subway Line 1 or the KTX. Once you arrive, head to the Hwaseong Fortress area. The neighborhood is very walkable and filled with filming locations from other famous dramas like Extraordinary Attorney Woo!
