Parklinks Bridge Is the Newest Architectural Icon in Metro Manila

Manileños, a new icon is in town! On 28 Nov 2022, Ayala Land Inc. and Eton Properties Philippines unveiled the Parklinks Bridge. The 110-metre-long and 25-metre-wide bridge stretches over the Marikina River and connects Quezon City with Pasig City. Additionally, it offers a faster, alternative route that will help ease traffic in the northeast and east of the metro. Ultimately, this two-way bridge serves as an eye-catching architectural masterpiece with a purpose.

When art bridges the gap between places

In collaboration with infrastructure designers Sytra Philippines and Sytra Korea, Ayala Lands and Eton Properties fabricated a simple yet iconic design for the Parklinks Bridge. The cable-stayed link features 20 asymmetrically arranged cables suspended from a metal arch, which gives it an interesting illusion when viewed from different sides. Its design and architecture embody “the elegance of synergism.” 

What’s more? The Parklinks Bridge also features designated pedestrian and bike lanes. This is especially convenient and timely as two-wheeled vehicles are slowly becoming a viable option for commuters.

Parklinks Bridge inauguration ceremony

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Roman Artes, along with Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto made an appearance at the inauguration to extend their support for the new bridge. The highlight of the event is the lighting ceremony which featured colourful, vibrant LED lights by Signify Philippines.

Looking for exciting events to experience the holiday spirit? Parklinks Bridge also features a light and music installation, aptly named Bridge of Lights Show, for visitors to enjoy. Catch the show from 6pm to 9pm daily until 7 January 2023.
