What is the Philippine Book Festival?

The Philippine Book Festival is an annual event that celebrates books and reading. The event lasts for four days, during which book publishers, distributors, and sellers gather to showcase countless variations of books — from fiction and nonfiction to children’s books and academic textbooks. The PBF is also a great platform for local authors to connect with readers and promote their works.

This year’s PBF promises to be even bigger and better than ever before. Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect:

  • Four major zones: The Philippine Book Fair will be divided into four major zones: Kid Lit, Komiks, Booktopia, and Aral Aklat. Each of these zones will cater to different interests. Kid Lit will showcase children’s books, while Komiks will be dedicated to comics and graphic novels. Booktopia will feature a wide variety of books from different genres, while Aral Aklat will focus on educational books and resources.
  • Workshops, talks, and activities: Aside from books, the PBF will also feature a series of workshops, talks, and activities. These events will encourage attendees to learn more about writing, publishing, and the book industry in general. There will also be activities for children, such as storytelling sessions and book character meet-and-greets.
  • Free entrance: Fret not! The Philippine Book Festival is a free-to-enter event, making it accessible to everyone who would love to browse through endless rows of literary pieces and interact with fellow bibliophiles. So whether you’re a student, a young professional, or a parent, you can come and enjoy the festivities. However, while walk-ins are welcome, the PBF still encourages attendees to pre-register here.
