Where Filipinos Apply for Schengen Visa: Embassies That Approve & Reject the Most

The Schengen Visa is one of the most difficult documents to obtain as a Filipino traveller. The requirements vary from embassy to embassy, and they also cost an applicant at least ₱5,000 to complete. Most embassies are even notorious for their frequent visa rejections!

Recent data, however, shows that despite the complexity of the application process, the year 2018 already saw a 16% increase from last year in the number of Schengen Visa applications among Philippine citizens. SchengenVisaInfo.com, the leading source of Schengen Visa-related information in the world, reported that of the 16 million applications from across the world, 170,695 of them were filed by Filipinos. Meanwhile, the website recorded a total of 146,517 applications for the entirety of 2017.

The Netherlands issued the most Schengen Visas

The data also revealed that most Filipinos applied through the Netherlands Embassy in the Philippines. In turn, the embassy has issued the most number of Schengen Visas thus far at 35,980, majority of which are intended for multiple-entry. This makes the Netherlands Embassy a clear favourite among Filipinos for their destination or point-of-entry in the Schengen area.

The French embassy rejected the most applications

A significant number of applicants have likewise been successful through the French, Italian, Spanish and German Embassies. However, the same four embassies also rejected the most number of applications, along with Norway. Meanwhile, Filipinos who prefer to explore non-Schengen parts of Europe can consider these countries.
