Ever imagined standing next to a tree so huge it makes you feel like a tiny dot on Earth? That’s exactly what it’s like in Sequoia National Park, a natural wonderland in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. Known for being home to the largest trees on Earth, this park is where you’ll meet some of nature’s most jaw-dropping giants—including the iconic General Sherman Tree.
Sequoia National Park is located in central California, about 360 km northeast of Los Angeles. It’s part of the Sierra Nevada range and sits right next to Kings Canyon National Park. The two parks are managed together, so many visitors explore both during the same trip.
Whether you're road tripping across California or planning a nature escape from the city, this place is worth the detour.

Visa requirements – A valid US tourist visa is needed to enter California and visit the park.
Dress in layers – Even in summer, early mornings and evenings can be chilly in the mountains.
Watch the altitude – Some parts of the park are located more than 2,000 metres above sea level. Take your time to adjust if you’re not used to high altitudes.
Bring your own food – There are limited food options inside the park, so packing snacks or meals is a good idea.
