If you’ve ever spent hours stuck in EDSA traffic, you know how frustrating it can be. The good news is that a long-delayed section of Metro Manila’s Skyway Stage 3, specifically the Pandacan stretch, is finally moving again and could open as early as the first quarter of 2027.
This 1.2-kilometre section had been on hold for years because of right-of-way problems. Homes, small businesses, and informal settlements along the route made it tricky for construction to continue safely. Getting everyone relocated and securing the land took longer than expected, which left this key segment unfinished while other parts of Skyway Stage 3 moved ahead.

Now, things are changing. The government and private partners like San Miguel Corporation and Metro Pacific Tollways have cleared most of the hurdles, and construction is back on track. Officials say it could be ready by early 2027, with the entire north-south Skyway corridor fully operational by mid-2027.

For commuters and travellers, this is exciting news. Skyway Stage 3 will finally link the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Bulacan to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Muntinlupa, allowing drivers to bypass much of the EDSA congestion. That means trips from Quezon City to Makati, Taguig, or even the airport could take a lot less time, leaving you with more freedom to plan your day.
It’s not just about saving time. Faster travel across Metro Manila also makes life easier for delivery services, ride-hailing drivers, and public transport operators. If you’re visiting or exploring the city, it could make getting around feel a lot smoother and less stressful.
The resumption of this project also shows a bigger picture: Metro Manila is slowly but surely working to improve its roads and traffic flow. With congestion at an all-time high, every little improvement counts, and Skyway Stage 3 is set to become a key route for smoother, faster travel.

By mid-2027, the city could see a fully connected Skyway Stage 3 corridor, turning what was once a source of headaches into a route that actually makes getting around easier. Whether you’re commuting, running errands, or just exploring the city, this project promises a real change in how Metro Manila moves.

The Pandacan stretch is finally back on track after years of delays due to right-of-way issues, it is expected to open as early as Q1 2027, connects NLEX to SLEX to help commuters bypass EDSA traffic, improves travel for drivers, tourists, and delivery services, and is part of broader Metro Manila infrastructure improvements.
