Tagbilaran’s Pink Trumpet Trees: The “Bohol Cherry Blossoms” Everyone Is Talking About

Tagbilaran City in Bohol is usually known as a gateway to island adventures, countryside tours, and beach escapes. But lately, something much simpler has been catching attention online: soft pink trumpet trees blooming around the city.

Often compared to cherry blossoms because of their pastel pink flowers, these trees have become an unexpected photo spot for locals and travellers alike. Some even call them the “Bohol cherry blossoms” thanks to the dreamy vibe they create during bloom season.

One of the most talked about spots is near Island City Mall (ICM), where the bright pink blooms stand out beautifully against the city streets. It is not a massive tourist attraction or a curated flower park. Instead, it feels more spontaneous, like stumbling upon a hidden aesthetic moment in the middle of your day.

That is honestly part of the charm.

The trees, also known as pink tabebuia or pink trumpet trees, usually bloom during the dry season in the Philippines. When they are at peak bloom, the flowers create a soft pink canopy that instantly reminds many travellers of spring scenes abroad.

If you are planning to visit, early mornings and late afternoons are usually the best times for photos. The softer lighting makes the pink tones look even more vibrant, especially during golden hour.

The good thing is that visiting the trees can easily fit into a regular Bohol itinerary. Since the blooms are located within Tagbilaran City, travellers can combine the stop with nearby cafés, food trips, or popular attractions around the area.

You can also continue your trip to famous Bohol destinations like Baclayon Church, Chocolate Hills, Bilar Man Made Forest, or Alona Beach in Panglao.

Getting there is easy for most travellers arriving through Bohol Panglao International Airport or Tagbilaran Port. From there, tricycles, motorbike taxis, and rental vehicles make it convenient to explore the city.

No, it is not exactly Japan’s sakura season. But that is what makes it feel special in its own way. It is a simple roadside moment that unexpectedly turns into something memorable, especially when the pink blooms are in full display.
