Ever since Squid Game captured global attention, many Filipinos have found themselves asking the same question: what would it look like if the series were set in the Philippines? How would the games change? What local twists would make it feel truly Pinoy?
Instead of leaving it as a what-if, Pinoy YouTuber Donnalyn and her friends decided to bring the idea to life with their own Filipino take on Squid Game. The result quickly caught the attention of viewers online, with netizens praising the creativity, effort, and unmistakable local flavour of the video.
Curious how their version plays out? Here’s a quick breakdown.

For the video, Donnalyn teamed up with a group of familiar faces, including Marv Fojas and Baron Geisler. They went all out with costumes, hair, and makeup inspired by characters from the hit Netflix series. Even the sets were carefully recreated, with tarpaulin backdrops designed to resemble scenes from Red Light, Green Light and the Honeycomb Challenge.
True to form, the group added their own Filipino spin to each game. Here’s how their version unfolded.

Thankfully, no one’s life was on the line. Instead of being eliminated, players had to hop their way to the finish line inside rice sacks. Anyone caught moving by the “it” player was simply sprayed with water guns, turning the challenge into a chaotic but hilarious showdown.

In the Pinoy version of the Honeycomb Challenge, dalgona candy and needles were swapped out for something more local. Each player was given a tin can of polvoron and a hammer, with just one minute to carve out their assigned shape.
Let’s just say this round had a few unexpected moments, but we’ll leave those as a surprise.

Winners from the earlier rounds earned the chance to pick their teammates for Tug of War. While the stakes were far from deadly, the setup was intense in its own way.
Between the two teams, the group prepared a large patch of soil and added a not-so-pleasant twist by dumping live worms into the mix. It was messy, uncomfortable, and exactly the kind of challenge that made viewers squirm.

Just as things started to heat up, the video came to an end, hinting at a continuation. A sneak preview teased their own take on the Glass Jumping challenge, leaving viewers curious about what comes next.
