More Yoshinoya Stores Locally Thanks to Jollibee-Yoshinoya Partnership

From cherry blossoms to ramen, anything Japanese is just about a sure hit among Filipinos. And when it comes to local Japanese restaurants, Yoshinoya is a tough one to beat.

That being said, you’ll be happy to know that there will be more Yoshinoya stores in the Philippines coming up in the future. This is all thanks to the recent partnership of the Japanese food chain with the homegrown brand, Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC).

Growing the number of Yoshinoya stores in the Philippines

On 16 Feb 2021, JFC announced via the Philippine Stock Exchange that it would enter a 50-50 joint venture with Yoshinoya International Philippines Inc. It will make the joint firm the official local franchisee of the legendary restaurant, known for its signature Gyudon beef bowls.

“We are truly thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with YIPI and grow the Yoshinoya brand in the Philippines,” JFC chairman Tony Tan Caktiong said via ABS-CBN News. “JFC will benefit from Yoshinoya’s experience and know-how in Japanese cuisine.”

The sentiment was, of course, shared by Yoshinoya, adding that “Jollibee will certainly have a significant positive impact on Yoshinoya’s business in the country, with its extensive consumer knowledge, operational focus, and presence in the Philippines,” according to Yoshinoya Holdings Co. Ltd. CEO and President Yasutaka Kawamura.

There are currently three Yoshinoya stores in the Philippines. With the partnership, Yoshinoya will be Jollibee’s first Japanese fast-food chain, joining other franchised brands such as Burger King, PHO 24, and Panda Express.
