9 Long Weekends in 2022 + Calendar and Cheat Sheet!

Who’s ready for 2022?

Honestly, not us — but at least, we can be excited about a fresh start if that means a new set of paid leaves and possibly new destinations opening to safe and sustainable travel. On 29 Oct 2021, the Malacañang Palace released Proclamation No. 1236 declaring all the holidays next year. So far, we’re seeing at least nine possible long weekends in 2022.

As per tradition, TripZilla has come up with an annual calendar and cheat sheet for your viewing pleasure. Feel free to pin these photos!

Public holidays and long weekends in 2022

Last year, the Malacañang Palace issued Proclamation No. 1107, which declared 2 Nov, 24 Dec, and 31 Dec as special working days to “encourage economic productivity by, among others, minimising work disruption and commemorating some special holidays as special working days instead.”

The proclamation was made in the spirit of reversing the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the previous years, these days were considered special non-working days for Filipinos to spend extra time with their families.

Meanwhile, the official dates of the Islamic holidays, Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha, are yet to be announced. Bookmark this article as we await the official update of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) — we promise to keep you updated!

Make it 9 long weekends in 2022 by taking five leave days

If you take five leave days, you can actually score nine long weekends in 2022!

Nine long weekends may seem little, especially compared to the last years when we enjoyed up to 13 holiday breaks. But, this calendar is just imagining that you’ll use up your minimum of five paid leaves, which all employees in the Philippines are legally entitled to. If you have more than five paid leaves to spare, then obviously, you’ll get to enjoy more long weekends in 2022.

Without further ado, here’s our little cheat sheet for vacation leaves next year:
